I've been having problems accessing any the email address comments@clarebalding.co.uk and cannot seem to fix it. I'm so sorry if you have sent an email and not received a reply. If the request or query is still current, please contact david@jamesgrant.co.uk. Thank you.
I update this front page from time to time but for a more regular, up-to-date reflection of where I am and what I'm up to, follow me on Twitter - @clarebalding1 I post photos from Ramblings walks and from the various sporting events I'm working at and I do try to reply personally to as many people who tweet me as I can.
Heading into the autumn and winter months I have to say that if 2011 was meant to be a quiet year, it hasn't exactly worked out like that.... not that I'm complaining. It's been a wonderful opportunity to work on such a variety of programmes, like Countryfile & Britain's Hidden Heritage and I've loved being able to experience milking a goat, groom a cow, crack a crab and learn about where Charlotte Bronte may have found the inspiration for Jane Eyre or about the cooking practices in stately homes of the 18th century.
Sport continues to form the framework of my working life and the summer was packed full as always with sporting highlights with racing, tennis, golf, swimming, eventing, show jumping and rugby league - I always love presenting the Challenge Cup final, which this year was the best I have seen at the new Wembley. Congratulations to Wigan.
If you like walking or imagining you are walking, the new series of Ramblings has started on Radio 4 - you can listen to it early on a Saturday morning or at 3pm on Thursday afternoons or download the podcast from the Coast & Country website http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/country
I've got some big racing days coming up - the Arc and the first ever British Champions Day but other than those TV commitments and the Super League Grand Final, I'm settling down for the next couple of months to write. 'My Animals and Other Family' is due for delivery at Christmas and will be out next year. I'm very grateful to Leigh Durrell, wife of Gerald, for allowing me to flip his title on its head and I hope I can do justice to his genre of writing.
Best wishes,
Clare
