Thank you for visiting the website and I hope you've been OK in all the wintery weather. I guess it's just that time of year but it seems to have caused more disruption, particularly in the world of racing, than it usually does. I've had a few interesting moments getting the car stuck in snow but only missed one day when I was supposed to be recording Ramblings and it got snowed off.
I am shortly off to a place where the more snow, the better as I will be based in Whistler for the Winter Olympics. I'll be covering all the alpine sports for BBC Sport, presenting the nightly prime time programme on BBC2. Whistler is a couple of hours from Vancouver, where Sue Barker and Hazel Irvine will be based. They get ice skating, curling, snow-boarding and the rest while I get downhill skiing, giant slalom, slalom, bobsleigh, skeleton bob, luge and ski jumping.
There's a lot of homework still to be done but this is the third Winter Olympics I have worked on and I love them.. There is a beauty to snow sports that I think can really brighten the days for everyone back here and I hope you will enjoy them. If Great Britain manage to bag a couple of medals, so much the better (Shelley Rudman has a particularly good chance) but the thrill of the Games is not dependent upon British success.
There are a couple of other things to look out for in February - the new series of Ramblings starts on Radio 4 on February 10th. The six part series goes out at 6am on Saturdays and at 3pm on Thursdays. Also, I was busy in late summer/autumn recording a brand new television series called Britain By Bike which will be broadcast on BBC4 (Channel 116) in February. There is a book coming out with the series with details of the routes we took and some really good stuff on the history of cycling.
I hope you enjoy some or all of those programmes and thanks again for popping in to say hello.
Best wishes,
Clare
