Hello

BRITAIN BY BIKE HAS STARTED.....

Britain By Bike is a six part series on BBC4 at 8.30 on Tuesday nights. It involves me cycling round the UK following touring guides written by a guy called Harold Briercliffe just after the Second World War. It's shamelessly nostalgic, gentle and fun. It will cover cycling routes in North Devon, the Isle of Wight, the Welsh Borders, Yorkshire, the Scottish Highlands and the Cotswolds.

I hope you enjoy it and feel free to let me know what you think on comments@clarebalding.co.uk but please don't be too cruel.

The busy sporting summer continues. I loved covering the Open at St
Andrews. The radio team are such a lovely bunch and it's a bit like
being on a week long action camp with your work mates. I must have
walked about 25 miles in every sort of weather so it was a cross
between Ramblings and top class sport - bliss.  The same is true of Wimbledon - they are a top class team and it's so much fun to work with editors and producers who are brilliant at what they do and who bring out the best in me by trusting and inspiring me.

Over the next month or so on TV, I've got a bit of racing, the Challenge Cup semi-finals and the European Swimming Championships in Budapest to look forward to and at some stage I'll try to take a week off.  I'll also start recording the new series of Ramblings for Radio 4.

I hope you're having a good summer and wish you well in every
challenge you face.

Best wishes,

Clare
